ABOUT STUDYBOOST

StudyBoost offers courses in study skills for children from Grade four to high school with a focus on extracting key words and ideas, mind-mapping, memory skills and improving reading comprehension.

Courses and workshops can be held at schools for teachers, parents and learners as well as at companies wishing to enrich their staff's learning capacity. Private workshops (individual or small groups) are held at the study centre in Highlands North. Regular revision courses ensure that skills are maintained.

Courses are run by Margie Karnasopoulos, a specialist educator with a keen interest in helping children learn how to learn. StudyBoost also offers private remedial therapy, subject tuition and homework support in the afternoons. We also offer screenings to determine those at risk for reading difficulties with individual programmes for prevention and remediation.

Testimonials

Dear Margie

Thank you for all the work you did with the girls, staff and parents with Study Boost.  It went down very well with everyone and I know that the girls have learnt a valuable set of skills from you.  Please keep in touch as I would like to have you back next year for another session with the Grades 5 ,6 and 7 girls.

Warm regards

Dear Margie

About 2 days before the end of 2nd term I got a call from my son’s housemaster to say that he had done well in the exams and had moved up 30 places within his grade (9). His improvement in exam results was definitely due to the study skills course he did with you plus the effort he put in. I believe the fact that he was able to summarize correctly and draw up mind maps encouraged him to put in more effort than previously. The skills you taught him worked. I would highly recommend the course!

Kind Regards

Cindy Maciver (Chad, Grade 9, St John’s)

Hi Margie

I thought I would let you know that Nicola really has benefited from your course. She is using her mindmaps and sticky notes and is amazed at how much she’s remembering. So thank you so much for that.

Thanks and kind regards

Ann (Nicola, Grade 6, St Mary’s)

My daughter did your study skills course at the junior school and has been using this method in preparation for her tests and found it to be great. So thank you! I have also given your number to a couple of parents who are keen to help their daughters with study methods.

Regards
